5 TRENDS YOU NEED FOR FALL (Mama and Me Edition)

Krys and her children showing off new fall attire.

Fall and back-to-school shopping has been in full swing over here! This year Blake and Avery will be starting a new school together for the first time (I’m really excited about only having one drop off and pick up location).  Even more importantly this will be the first year that Blake doesn’t have a uniform, and while I liked the fact that I didn’t ever have to think about what she was going to wear, I’m so excited to get to style her every day!

And I can’t forget about MY back-to-school look! Since Avery will be starting 2’s preschool this Fall, there is a transition schedule which means I have to be in class with her for an hour each day while she gets used to being in a new environment. I’m usually dressed casually for school drop off/pick up and I’ll definitely want to be comfortable in case there is circle time where I have to sit on the floor with her.

The most important part of shopping for me and the girls is to get pieces that can be worn in multiple ways. I love dressing the girls in mini versions of things I would like to wear so I always make sure to cover some of the top trends in my own understated way for all of our wardrobes!

Here are my top 5 Fall trends that are a must have for moms and babes! Even if you don’t have little ones these are the trends you should be thinking about incorporating into your wardrobe for Fall:

  1. Florals

  2. Ruffles/ruching

  3. Animal Prints

  4. Metallics

  5. Pantone’s Pink Peacock

Check out some of my picks and see the different ways I styled them!

Preschool

For my littlest and pickiest fashionista, I styled a little denim dress two ways. For a casual look I paired the dress with a floral top, some pink sneakers a green vest and her all time favorite Mickey Mouse backpack! For a more dressed up look, I paired the denim dress with pink bow shoes, a white shirt and a furry vest and tied it all together with a  fun pink backpack. You can mix and match these pieces how every you like, just have fun!

Elementary  School

For my Kindergartener I took a pretty pink ruffle sweater and made it casual with some camo leggings, metallic star sneakers and a silver backpack. To dress up this sweater I paired it with a fun rainbow skirt, some pink mary janes. Another option is to pair the sweater with denim jeans and pink Adidas sneakers for an easy every day look!

Mom's Looks

Option 1:

For my first mom look I had fun mixing prints! I paired this cute denim dress with a nice green quilted jacket, a camo bag, some fun animal print sneakers and turquoise sunglasses. Don't be afraid to mix patterns! These are all far away enough from each other that it's not overwhelming to the eye.

Option 2:

For my second look I jazzed up the denim with my new favorite color, Pantone's "pink peacock". in these super fun velvet loafers and bag. I also paired it with a little army green jacket with bell sleeves.

Option 3:

For my final look, I paired the dress with a light pink distressed army jacket, some comfy sneakers with a pop of pink,  turquoise sunglasses and a navy crossbody bag. What do you think of my picks?
